4. Hypnotizer & Spiralminded – Moonspell  (June 1, 2020) https://visionaryshamanics.bandcamp.com/track/hypnotizer-spiralminded-moonspell

5. Sounds From The Ground – Restless Dub  (May 1, 2010) https://bluehoursounds.bandcamp.com/track/restless-dub

UK duo Elliot Morgan and Nick Woolfson make some of the most stunningly rich, dynamic, bass-heavy downtempo instrumentals on the planet. They are pioneers of ambient dub, an exotic style first championed by defunct UK label Beyond Records and then picked up and continued to this day by North American label Waveform. Although dub in its original form is the tripped-out instrumental flipside of reggae, there is quite often no overtly Jamaican flavour to Morgan and Woolfson’s work. The dub element is more in the recording techniques (looping, echo, etc) and lovingly produced basslines that rumble, slide and snake their away around the room with enormous presence. Neither is the duo’s take on dub the minimalist approach of modern purists. They concoct soulful, exotic and tuneful widescreen panoramas, wound together with muscular rhythms and big, crisp drum loops that sometimes have a tribal or ethnic edge. Rhythmic downtempo from the psychedelic trance scene owes quite lot to these guys: listen and learn. Sounds From The Ground don’t really belong to any decade or period save an electronic one. Their albums still sound as vital as the day they were released. Any sounds the duo took in from clubland or other circles over the years seems to have been readily absorbed into their arsenal to be used as needed, not because they were trendy at a particular time. Put SFTG’s albums on your stereo, crank up the volume and prepare to be moved!

6. Kaminanda – Luke Mandela- Invite (Kaminanda Remix)  (May 26, 2020)

https://kaminanda.bandcamp.com/track/luke-mandela-invite-kaminanda-remix

https://www.facebook.com/Kaminanda.music
Kaminanda’s sound is a playground of original Midtempo grooves, tribal rhythms, Psy-Dub, and bouncy four on the floor. Using a generous dose of instrumentation and music theory designed to take the listener/dancer on a journey traversing landscapes of hypnotic elements of dance music while remaining in the slower tempos. A kaleidoscope of warm melodies and twisting, winding compositions. With seven albums in his repertoire, this alchemy balances musicality and micro-detail to evoke a deeper experience.

7. Third Ear Audio – The Sleeping Giant (Keyframe MLK “How long it will take” quote Live mix)  (Jan 7, 2009) https://thirdearaudio.bandcamp.com/track/the-sleeping-giant

https://www.facebook.com/thirdearaudio/
Third Ear Audio is two friends, Nick Barber (Doof) and Celli Firmi (Earthling). Nick is from the UK and Celli was born and raised on the island of Ibiza, which is where they first met back in the mid-90s through the trance party scene. Nick was already producing music and DJing as Doof, with numerous releases on Dragonfly, T.I.P, Twisted, Matsuri, Blue Room and various other independent dance labels, including the now classic first Doof album ‘Let’s Turn On” (T.I.P Records/re-issued on Twisted Records). At that time Celli was just starting a career in music production and DJing which within a short while would see him become one of the leading talents in the psy-scene, working closely with old friends G.M.S and Spun Records, releasing his own music as Earthling and numerous collaborations including Soundaholix and Vatos Locos (Sony Music/Dragonfly). Nick and Celli used to DJ together at the many outdoor free parties on Ibiza, often playing ping-pong sets as a duo. They decided to try and make some music together, and from these early laptop sessions came the tracks that would eventually lead to the formation of the Vatos Locos project with Mexican DJ and good friend Xavier Fux. When Nick moved from London to Ibiza he and Celli set up a studio together in the house they shared. In between working on dance tracks for Vatos Locos they started producing downtempo and chill-out tracks which eventually became the basis for the Third Ear Audio project. Covering a range of musical influences from trance, chill-out electronica thru dub to big-beat and rock, and incorporating live instruments including sessions with Mexican percussionist and tabla-wizard Rupesh and flautist Nidra Sofia, the Third Ear album pretty much covers the spectrum of deep-chillage, reflecting Celli and Nick’s varied musical tastes.

11. Bluetech – Cosmic Trigger  (April 15, 2014) https://bluetech.bandcamp.com/track/cosmic-trigger

Evan Bartholomew has been performing electronic music for nearly 20 years as Bluetech, Evan Marc and Invisible Allies (with Kilowatts). As an an internationally recognized touring music producer with over 27 album / EP releases and a seasoned portfolio of video game and film scoring credits, Bluetech is a master of analog and modular sound synthesis and DSP audio manipulation. He brings a passion for sound design and cutting edge audio exploration into all the work he touches. His music transcends the constructs normally associated with a calculated “electronic artist,” pursuing music with meaning and purpose with downtempo, future bass and progressive electronic music, rife with emotional intent and poly-rhythmic percussion. Bluetech began his training as a classically trained pianist at a young age, and has explored his craft as a DJ, musician, film composer, record producer and label owner. His work has evolved to include his roots in classical composition and ear for nomadic harmonic progressions and a deep awareness of music as a kinetic force with body moving beat mechanics. Working as a solo artist, as well as a producer, he has written scores for film & television (CSI: Miami, Scared Sacred, Occupy Love, Albedo Absolute, various television commercials), video games (Comet Crash 2 – forthcoming PS4) and virtual reality installations (MicrodoseVR). In addition to music, Evan has established a reputation as an accomplished graphic designer, illustrator, and 3D animator through both his personal work and commissions for clients (Microsoft, Austin City Limited, City Of Seattle). Bluetech has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, having shared stages with such acts as The Glitch Mob, The Orb, Bassnectar, Ott,Juno Reactor and many more. Bluetech’s latest album “4 Horsemen of the Electrocalypse: The Black Horse” is an analog and modular based composition, in the same vein that he explored with his previous two albums “The Red Horse” and “The White Horse,” both released in 2016. Ranging from dark Detroit influenced electro, synthfunk, to more melodic techno explorations, this release pushes forward Bluetech’s unique analog based approach to sound and music production.

13. Human Mesh Dance – Sunken Garden  (April 4, 1995) – https://waveformrecords.bandcamp.com/track/sunken-garden

Similar to his work with Savvas Ysatis as SETI, Taylor Deupree’s Human Mesh Dance project explores an isolationist headspace comprised of psychedelic soundscapes with minimal beatwork and carefully hoarded samples. The debut Hyaline was released in 1994 on Instinct Records, the label which issues many of Deupree’s various aliases (and also employs him as graphic designer). One year later, second album Mindflower appeared, followed in 1997 by The Secret Number Twelve.
